Many consumers don’t realize that store-bought wines often contain a long list of chemical additives—some of which aren't even disclosed on the label. These include sulfites, which are used in high quantities to prolong shelf life, but can trigger headaches, respiratory issues, and allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Mass-produced wines also frequently contain synthetic stabilizers and preservatives designed to prioritize storage and transport over purity and taste.
In addition to chemical preservatives, these wines are typically manipulated with acidity regulators like tartaric and citric acid, artificial fining agents, and even added sugars or concentrate to maintain a consistent flavour year-round. These interventions can mask poor grape quality and create a wine that’s more engineered than crafted. The use of commercial yeast strains and chemical clarifiers further distances store-bought wines from anything truly artisanal or natural.
By contrast, our winemaking process emphasizes transparency, minimal intervention, and real ingredients. We work directly with our clients to create custom, small-batch wines without relying on hidden chemicals or mass-production shortcuts. If you care about what goes into your body—and into your glass—choosing to make wine with us is a cleaner, more honest alternative to store-bought wines.
